Dear Knights of Columbus,

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is hosting the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Tournament here in Denver Wednesday March 18 thru Sunday March 22, 2009. Games will be held for the Prep Teams (children aged 8-12), JV Teams (12-21 or high school graduation), Varsity Teams, Division II and Division III Adult Teams, and Women's Teams. Most teams are CO-Ed in order to have enough players to form a full team. Currently there are 88 teams coming from all across the United States.

To accommodate all of the games, NWBA will be holding them at four locations; Gold Crown Field House150 S Harlan st. Lakewood, Metro State across the street from the Pepsi Center Denver, Whitlock Recreation Center 1553 Dover st. Lakewood, Craig Hospital 3425 S. Clarkson st. Englewood.

NWBA is in need of volunteers to assist with wheelchair storage, court monitors and crowd control. Volunteers would not be expected to be present an entire day, but for short shifts. You may volunteer for as many or as few shifts as you wish; taking breaks to watch games if you like. Not all shifts are needed at all locations.

Shifts generally begin at 7:15 am, and most last 2 hours. The first shift lasts 2 hrs 15 minutes, and the final shift may run 2 hrs 45 minutes.
Wednesday shifts begin at 7:15 am, at Gold Crown, and end at approximately 9:45 pm.
Thursday shifts begin at 7:15 am, at Gold Crown, 8:30 am at Metro, and Craig Hospital, and end at approximately
11:30 pm, 10:00 pm, and 4:30 pm respectively.
Friday shifts begin at 8:30 am at Gold Crown and Metro and end at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm respectively.
Saturday shifts begin 8:30 am at Gold Crown and Whitlock Center and end 6:00 pm and 6:30 Pm respectively.
Sunday shifts will begin 8:30 am at Whitlock Center end at approximately 1:30 pm.

Please be aware, those who are volunteering for wheelchair storage that you need not transfer children between their personal and athletic chairs. These children are able and want to transfer themselves. You will need to locate/store the individuals chair in the storage pods at the game site.
